Theresa May survived a vote of confidence even if more than a third of her party’s MPs voted against her on Wednesday, 12th Dec. 2018.
Loyalists supported the UK Prime Minister’s leadership against the attempt to topple her by ‘Brexiteer’ MPs, winning the Parliament’s confidence by 200 votes to 117. This secures Mrs May’s immunity from any further challenge for another year.
The Conservative leader faced a leadership challenge after her Conservative Party triggered a vote of no-confidence early on December 12.
The vote was triggered after the required 48 letters from Conservative MPs indicating their loss of confidence in Mrs May were received.
“I will contest that vote with everything I’ve got,” Mrs May said.
