    I wonder whether the “Medal of Honor Winners” had held a position from which they must have seen Blumenthal or must have come to know if he served in Vietnam. In their open letter, they simply state “But perhaps more relevant to this discussion is that we know you were not there with us” without a proof. How do they know this? (sorry, I am totally ignorant in these issues)

    If this question cannot be answered positively, the open letter is worthless for our fact check.
    If it can be answered positively, I suggest to cite the above cited statement (“But perhaps more relevant …).
