Emerging: Las Vegas shooting leaves 50 dead

More than 50 people were killed and over 200 injured in a mass shooting at a concert in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The death toll makes the incident the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

At this time there is in excess of 50 deceased and over 200 injured individuals.

The gunman fired from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas Strip casino into an open-air music festival nearby. The country musical festival, Route 91 Harvest, was attended by 40,000.

Police said the attacker was shot and killed by officers. Earlier, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department described the suspect as being a local man who acted alone.

NBC News, citing law enforcement officials, named the man as Stephen Paddock, 64. Police did not publicly identify the shooter or offer any information on a potential motive.

Police said they are looking to question a woman named Marilou Danley in relation to the investigation. They are also searching for two vehicles associated with the shooter – a Hyundai Tucson (Nevada license plate 114B40) and a Chrysler Pacifica (Nevada license plate 79D401).
