Discounted Nutella caused fighting in French stores after the supermarket chain Intermarché offered a 70 percent discount on Nutella, lowering the price from €4.50 ($5.60) to €1.40 ($.1.70).

Police were called when people began fighting and pushing one another.

“They are like animals. A woman had her hair pulled, an elderly lady took a box on her head, another had a bloody hand,” one customer told French media, according to the BBC.

The BBC also said that these violent scenes across France were described as ‘riots’ by the French media.
