Mr. Lewis is an okay cheerleader for his wire service business if that is what the Dow Jones Co.’s mission is, this company could also be characterized as clownfish on sharks. The language is all about words as a cover for unknown actions, actions like: if you don’t get caught you can do anything. Winners playing in a highly competitive capital environment do imply losers elsewhere and
economic trash talk about extreme optimism attempt to hide this reality. It’s not as if unfettered capitalism systems lifts all boats, only someone’s boat. If Mr. Lewis was the CEO of the state bank of Puerto Rico his statements would sound like: Looking forward we are extremely optimistic about future growth, as long as no one drills a hole in our dingy. For sure the word ‘ Growth ‘ will always be the goto word regarding economic times, this word is used to avoid facts like one species of about 7 billion is locked into a planet system without infinite resources. The ‘growth’ word is the elixir word to cover awareness of unwanted realities.
