Is there a good reason to limit fact checks to just the top two polling candidates (on only the second night of the debates, no less)? Seems like more could be accomplished, and more readers interested, by just fact checking the most stand-out claims by all the candidates during the debate.

The only reason is a lack of resources. If you’d like to help expand the scope of the fact check that would be fantastic!

(my writing crossed yours, Fiona, I keep the text as it is)

I suppose that a special reason for setting such a limit didn’t exist, when the fact check was initiated. There are no thematic boundaries in a wiki. The background is, that initiators are to some degree specialized on Bernie Sanders.

But I too feel that for the reader, it might look like a limitation. I absolutely agree that should encourage to fact check claims of the other participents on the debates too.

In Discord, we had begun to talk about the question whether to do one fact check containing many claims or initiate several fact checks. Perhaps we could prepare pieces like “Proposal for a fact check: The live democratic debate between … and …”
        [addition]
Another option were to widen the text: “… The WikiTribune fact-checking project will check claims of both candidates. Fact checks on claims of the other candidates are highly welcome” or such.

Just moved the issue to the #factchecking channel of the chat on Discord, not knowing whether you already have an account, Chet.

Chet has a point, all candidates will appear on ONE stage, we should fact check them all. or, we can create the draft to include all of them.
