  1. Could we stop using the reference “Aunty May” which is a highly pejorative sexist name, especially in an evidence-based, non-inflammatory news platform? Putting it in quotes doesn’t diminish its power to reduce the PM to a cipher/joke. I say either write a piece about the sexist assault or leave it out of serious journalism.

    1. Hi Jan. I’m not sure what sexist assault you’re referring to, but ‘Aunty May’ was put in the headline of that article because that’s the affectionate nickname given to her by Chinese fans, which the article mentions.

It was not meant to be an inflammatory headline or reduce the PM to a joke, but actually a nod to her trip to China.

      1. I agree with you – Linh Nguyen.

It was not an inflammatory headline.

        Cheers

  2. Linh, I see Tomiwa started the project, and I’ve posted something to his talk stream, but I’m wondering – can we just move the project out of the ‘draft’ mode, so users can make suggestions, and in general interact with the project in a public manner? thanks.

    1. doh. I’m referring to the Newsletter project.

      1. Hiya! We’re currently trying to make TALK happen on draft, which should be employed soon. For now, you can just make your suggestions on the story itself – I hope that’s OK. 🙂

        1. no problem. one thing though… after adding my 2 cents,
I hit the “send for review” button, I didn’t see a “save draft”, my mistake.
