I am an independent thinker with a disdain for hypocrisy and distorted facts. I believe most, if not all, hot topics (i.e. gun control, immigration, BLM) have reasonable arguments to support both sides but those arguments generally get lost in a sea of misinformation propagated by the extremists. This leads to a lack of empathy toward opposing views and an unwillingness to compromise resulting in either 1. no meaningful changes and an ineffective government, or 2. dramatic, over reaching policy changes producing heavy collateral damage.
I have a strong news background, having worked many years within major news organizations. However, my experience is rooted on the business side making me cognizant of the difficulties news organizations face. It seems a near impossible challenge to deliver quality, comprehensive, unbiased content as the costs are huge and forces are strong to tilt toward the political views of your overall readership base. I applaud WikiTribune’s efforts to give it a go.
