Hi Audrey: Thanks for your edits to the Mitsuku story. Your diligence is appreciated. However, in this case, the typos in the conversation you suggested corrections for were intentional. The idea of the conversation with the chatbot was to see how it responded to typos and other basic errors that often pop up in normal text chats between human beings. In this case, Mitsuku responded by replicating the errors. Not super adult human-like. I’ve had a discussion with another editor at and we’ll add a note to explain that the errors were intentional and meant as a test of Mitsuku’s artificial human intelligence. Also, I suppose the idea of conferring a personal pronoun upon a chatbot is a gray area that could make for fascinating discussion—in this case I still prefer to refer to the machine as “it” rather than “her.” Thank you, though, for your continuing efforts . Look forward to more of your edits and original stories on the site. Thanks, Chuck

Hey Chuck, Thank you so much for this clarification! Thats a very interesting aspect of the article that I clearly did not pick up on! oops! I think maybe adding a note to it would be affective at preventing other eager eyes at making those corrections! Overall really interesting piece I appreciate your writing! Regarding the pronouns, an interesting conversation for sure, the more popular or common these AI entities become I wonder if it will move into an ethical conversation about it? I think for now just staying constant is key. Thanks so much for your note, I look forward to your future pieces.
      Best,
      Audrey
