  1. Hi Daniel … I’m putting together a collaborative framework for the Plastics in the Ocean piece, so all the community is invited to contribute. It will be visible later today or tomorrow, under the Projects tab.

    Angela

  2. I am following a few articles, in case I can contribute somehow.

I can find the article on Superbugs and Tropical forests. but I can seem to find “Plastics in the ocean”.

  3. Hi Angela,

    A temporal anomaly.

Funny how my chat text in the Pollution article was dated as having been written 12 hours before your text.

  4. Hi Daniel … I think the Publish button was hit prematurely. I’ll move it back but could you do these things: start with an introductory paragraph or two rather than immediately going to the report. If you look down the text now, I’ve suggested which part should move up.
Also alter the references to ‘Friday’ or anything which ties it to a specific date as it is a timeless topic (for a while anyway). ‘October 2017’ is OK.
Can you put in a link to the WHO report?
    More chat later.

    1. Hi Angela,

Thank you for believing I can do better. I am certain that you, or anyone at Wikitribune could write it ten times better than I could. So don’t hesitate if you feel the urge.

I shall take some time this weekend to follow your suggestions. I felt that I went from a full feelings-only cry – which felt right and was published – and I agree that it was probably premature to publish, to a dry review of the report- which did not feel right.

I shall also see if I can make a better balance, try to come up with a better angle. If I fail miserably – which is a possibility – I shall not hesitate to ask for your help. Now let’s see if my reply lands slightly indented below your chat box as it should.

      Daniel

    2. Hi Angela,

I love the changes you made! I appreciate your suggestions:
      I have added relevant links.
I could not find exactly everything that is supposed to be there according to The Lancet, but most of it, and I do not mention that other stuff in the article, so I think it tallies.

One suggestion made me unsure on exactly where to put it: “put high up?? ” Could I ask that you do this one, and any other changes you feel like?

      Daniel

  5. Hello Angela,

I added as much as I think I will now.
I took away the personal view , and moved the sources under the “sources” area. Another “problem” is that much text is just copied and reorganiserad.
At least spelling works now for me.
There are still a lot of sources not used, and I should remove that.
I was a bit surprised to see the article published.
Perhaps I should have been happy with the short, published version?

  6. Thanks Anthony, that’s very encouraging. Always so hard to know what to put in and leave out in a primer so it won’t take six months to read.
Re The Basques, has tended to be much more bitter and violent. I heartily recommend Paddy Woodworth’s book, cited at the end of the article – it is about ETA and the anti-ETA squads. He knows his subject inside out and is also an excellent writer.

    Angela

  7. That’s a really impressive piece detailing Catalonia. Well done. Just what Wikitribune is all about. I am just an ordinary subscriber now watching on beta. I’d have liked to know a little about where the Basque separatists come in and ETA. That’s all I would add. I know very little about the subject but it’s very relevant to Scottish independence. Anthony

  8. Thanks Daniel, that’s a good point. I am going to consult my tame Catalunya expert, if he is available, and put your question.

    Angela

  9. Thank you suggesting a Catalan independence primer.
One more personal point of view from me.

I keep reading articles where Catalans are compared to nationalistic movements in Europe.

Is Nationalism really the correct term for the movement?
Does not Nationalism entail a wish to be completely self governing?

The Catalans I know want a deeper EU cooperation, not leave it.

Most the other nationalistic movements that I read about want to leave the EU. In contrast, the Catalans I know see being part of the EU as theír future. , instead of part of Spain.
