  1. An invitation to explore subwikis

Thank you so much for coming on this journey with us as we continue to shape the WikiTribune pilot. As you know, we’ve come a long way from the original concept and homepage, and today marks a new step in the site’s development.

I want WikiTribune to reflect what you want to read about, but also offer as many opportunities as possible for participation. The original homepage design discouraged community participation, and a general site can give the impression that more niche content isn’t welcome.  Right now we find that a lot of people think they have to write about broad general current affairs – but we welcome everything!

Community members have written great pieces about local elections in Florida, or local cultural venues, and subwikis are a great way to highlight these events. As local papers struggle with funding, and hyper-partisan feeds clog up the ‘blogosphere’, a sub-wiki is a neutral and fact-based space for your interests.

I hope to see you soon,

Jimmy Wales
