After 20 months of negotiations, all 27 European Union heads of state and government have agreed to British Prime Minister Theresa May's proposed Brexit plan.
The negotiated deal went through unanimously after Spain withdrew it's recently raised concerns over the status of Gibraltar.
Thee proposal will now be put forward to MP's in early December, where it is expected to face significant opposition from both members of opposing political parties, as well as some of Mrs May's own conservative MP's. Debate remains over the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, expatriat citizen's rights, and the £39 billion "divorce bill" that the UK will pay the EU.
If the proposal does not pass British MP's, it is unclear whether Britain faces re-negotiation, a "no-deal" situation, or a second referendum on the issue. However, Ms. May suggested another referrendum is not an option. "There should not be that second referendum. The public would expect parliament to vote on the deal. For most people in the UK they want a deal done and want us to get on with focusing more clearly on the issues that matter to them day to day," she told the gathered media.
The proposal will also need to return to the European Council, where it will need the approval of at least 20 out of the 27 nations.
&nbsp The United Kingdom is scheduled to leave the European Union on 29th of March, 2019.
