<strong>Police in India has arrested 16 people after two men became the latest victims of public hysteria over <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/2-men-mistaken-for-child-abductors-allegedly-beaten-to-death-in-assam-1864964">rumours of child kidnappers</a> </strong>(<em>NDTV</em>)<strong> spread using WhatsApp.</strong> <strong>Police in India has arrested 16 people after two men became the latest victims of public hysteria over <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/2-men-mistaken-for-child-abductors-allegedly-beaten-to-death-in-assam-1864964">rumours of child kidnappers</a> </strong>(<em>NDTV</em>)<strong> spread using WhatsApp.</strong>

In the month of May, <a href="https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/tn-horror-mob-mistakes-65-year-old-woman-child-trafficker-lynches-her-death-81010">a 65-year-old lady was lynched to death</a> (<em>The News Minute</em>) by the mob 200  people, where the family of five visited a temple in the Polur district of Tamil Nadu and offered kids chocolates for assisting them in the direction towards the temple. <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/06/india-arrests-18-men-lynched-whatsapp-rumours-180611102537044.html">Rumours of child kidnappings</a> (<em>Al Jazeera</em>) spread on WhatsApp have already led to the deaths of seven other people in the past month. Police have arrested 20 people in Bengaluru and 8 in Hyderabad as the suspects for lynching.
