<strong><a href="https://www.unicef.org/emergencies/bangladesh_100945.html">Over 600,000 Rohingya Muslims</a> fled their homes in Myanmar to seek refuge in neighboring Bangladesh last year. The Myanmar military, and civilian militias, were reported using rape as a weapon and burning villages in order to drive out the Muslim minority. The mass exodus was the largest since the <a href="https://www.wikitribune.com/story/2017/11/21/myanmar/rohingya-refugees-reminded-of-military-persecution-40-years-ago/11337/">Myanmar military denied the group</a> citizenship in 1968. </strong>  <strong><a href="https://www.unicef.org/emergencies/bangladesh_100945.html">Over 600,000 Rohingya Muslims</a> fled their homes in Myanmar to seek refuge in neighboring Bangladesh in 2017. <span style="font-weight: 400;">The Kachin are an example of an ethnic group that is experiencing similar levels of state violence as the Rohingya. <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/uncovered-worrying-evidence-of-new-genocidal-campaign-in-myanmar-11395173">Sky News</a> reported on the predominately Baptist Christian minority and how they are fighting back against the Burmese military.
