Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and Iran agreed to continue working to maintain trade with Tehran despite upcoming U.S. sanctions. The sanctions are designed to starve Iran of oil sales after U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPAC), also known as the Iran nuclear deal.
The remaining powers did so despite mounting skepticism from diplomats and analysts about whether trade with Tehran will still be possible if the United States is fully committed to imposing economic sanctions on Iran and anyone who acquires its oil.
