German doctors say 'highly probable' Pussy Riot member was poisoned

It is “highly probable” that Pyotr Verzilov, an associate of the protest music group Pussy Riot, was poisoned, say German doctors treating the man (The Guardian).

Verzilov suffered loss of eyesight and inability to move on September 11 after a court hearing, and was taken to a Moscow hospital in a serious condition. He was flown to Berlin on the following Saturday night.

A doctor at Berlin’s Charité hospital said there was yet no other explanation as to why Verzilov was in such a condition.

The Pussy Riot activist was one of four members of the Russian protest group who invaded a pitch during the World Cup  final between France and Croatia in Moscow in July. Each was sentenced to 15 days in prison.
