The organization Elephants Without Borders says it found 87 elephants near Botswana Sanctuary, killed by poachers.
The BBC reported that EWB told it this was the largest poaching incidence in Africa, and the animals appeared to have been killed for their ivory tusks.
Botswana has the majority of Africa’s elephant population, an estimated 37 percent, according to the Great Elephant Census.
The country also disbanded its anti-poaching force in May 2018, according to National Public Radio.
