Turkey’s currency, the lira, hit record lows of 7.24 to the dollar overnight on August 12, continuing a slide that observers fear will spread into global markets.

The currency’s decline in value was arrested when Turkey’s Central Bank announced a tranche of measures aimed at ensuring stability.
