According to one report, Japanese hunters killed 122 pregnant minke whales last summer as part of an annual “field survey” in the Antarctic.
Figures revealed that 128 of the 333 minke whales caught during the three month long expedition were female, and 122 of them were pregnant.
Japanese authorities say its whaling programme is for scientific purposes. However, Australia won a 2014 case at the International Court of Justice which ruled against the Japanese program.
