Turkey refuses to release Greek border guards

Turkey has refused to release two Greek border guards arrested on suspicion of espionage (Guardian).

Instead the Turkish government implied an exchange with the eight Turkish commandos that were granted asylum in Greece in 2016 after a failed coup.

No charges have been filed since the arrest in March.

After a Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) meeting in Prague it was decided that if there is no trial within the next few days, a delegation of lawyers will be sent to Edirne to demand the implementation of the rule of law and human rights (Ekathimerini).
