Also that paragraph is a bit ambiguous – does the monarchy cost £180m a year which is mostly offset by the £124m paid by the Crown Estate (so in that case the actual cost to the taxpayer would be £56m), or does it cost £180m even taking into account the £124.
I doubt if the Channel 4 fact check is the only source for that kind of number, there must be some original government documents?
Channel 4’s fact check article seems to have disappeared so I have replaced it with some different figures which hopefully fix the problem. The problem with the crown estates figures is they exclude other costs.

Surely, a republic would mean paying out much the same amount of money, but risking having someone like Trump instead of the Queen?
